Ochre Sunrise
In the 80s, a man named Wayne Powars stumbled upon the oldest known mine in the Americas. Some of the first people on this continent were mining for sacred red ochre 10,000 - 15,000 years ago in eastern Wyoming. The archeology site was almost destroyed by modern iron mines, but is now helping archaeologists learn more about the first humans in North America.
